SUSTOUKA Seminar 5-day marathon = Knowledge + Memoranda at the finish line.

The 5-day marathon training program for national experts on capacity building in the field of sustainable management of the tourism sector has come to an end.
A full week of presentations and discussions on topics provided by the leading Kazakhstaniаn speakers and representatives of international organizations and experts from Europe. Along with the assimilation of a huge flow of information by the participants of the training, the SUSTOUKA Seminar resulted in the signing of memorandums by the initiators of sustainable development projects, representatives of KTA and UNESCO. Their aim is to expand cooperation in the field of environmental protection and building the capacity for sustainability in tourism in Kazakhstan.

Among the signatories is a representative of the country’s leading resort region – Shynarbek Batyrkhanov, Chairman of the Association of Tourism and Recreation Industry of Akmola Oblast, Honorary Worker of Kazakhstan, Professor.
Signing a memorandum with UNESCO is extremely important for the representatives of the unique natural areas of Kazakhstan, as this international organization is engaged in research, evaluation and assigning a special status of global significance to certain objects of nature and historical and cultural heritage.
In the Akmola region, thanks to interaction with UNESCO structures, the Korgalzhyn State Ornithological Reserve is included in the UNESCO Natural Heritage List. And the National Park “Burabay” is also nominated for the high status of this international organization.

The SUSTOUKA is implemented by an international consortium led by EKOTEK (Spain) and composed of Kazakhstan Tourist Association (KTA), Kazakhstan Association of Hotels & Restaurants (KAGiR) and ECEAT (The Netherlands). The project is funded by the EU through the SWITCH-Asia Programme.
