On 17 November 2021, SUSTOUKA project partners organised a roundtable with national policy makers and MSMEs to promote SCP practices and establish public-private partnerships in the tourism sector in Kazakhstan. Important national and international personalities attended the event, such as Mr. Sadvakassov Kairat, Member of the Board, «Kazakh Tourism» National Company and Mr. Johannes Stenbaek Madsen, Head of Cooperation, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with national and international experts on SCP.
The event was divided into two sessions. The first one addressed the important role of governmental authorities in the implementation of SCP policies and practices in the national tourism sector, while the second one focused on the establishment of public-private partnerships between tourism sector stakeholders of Kazakhstan. The roundtable provided room for tourism sector stakeholders to share ideas and find common grounds to move all together towards a more sustainable sector in Kazakhstan. As such, the fruitful event ended with the signing of two memorandum of cooperation between Kazakhstan Tourist Association (KTA), the National Company “Kazakh Tourism”, the United Project Office “Almaty Mountain Cluster”.
